How to Submit a Catch for Kayak Wars

1) Check your camera Settings

First, power on your camera and verify that the date and time is accurately set in your camera settings. For each picture that you take, the digital camera will store information such as the date and time within the image file. This information is hard coded into the image. If you edit the photo with a resizing program or with photobucket there is a good chance that this information will be lost. Kayak Wars recommends that you do not edit or resize the photo when uploading your catches. All photos must contain this information or the system will reject your photo. You can test your camera by uploading a test photo below. Upon upload test success you should see your photo displayed below. If your test photo does not work please contact us using the contact link above.

2) Verifying you are on a team

If you have registered you probably noticed that Kayak Wars requires that you are on at minimum a 3 member team in order to upload catches. To verify you are on a team simply login to your Kayak Wars account and read your profile information. If your team name is listed then you have been placed on a team that you specified during registration. However, if you view your team's roster and you see three vacant spots you will not be able to submit a catch. So, first login to Kayak Wars and read your member profile information. Next, view the registered teams from the menu dropdown, "Sitemap ----> Registered Teams". Click on your team and confirm you have at least three members.

3) Photo Your Catch

Well, so far so good I hope? Next step is to start fishing of course. Once you have made a catch it's extremely important that you take a good photo for Kayak Wars. The rules specify that your fish must be alive and your picture must validate the authenticity of kayak fishing. So, here are some pointers for you.

A) The veteran anglers have a measuring board that they take with them to prove length. This makes easy work for judging photos. Place your catch on the measuring board and verify that it meets the minimum length requirement. Its best to lay your measuring stick across your lap.

B) If your catch checks out get your camera ready. Clear the lens and make sure its clean for a photo. Hold the camera high above your head and shoot downwards onto your measuring board. Be sure that your catch can be viewed within the photo on your measuring board. See example below.

C) Review your picture before throwing back your catch or slipping it into the cooler.

D) Finally, shoot a picture of the sky or the landscape around you. On a day where you catch 50 fish its often difficult to remember how many fish you caught. Therefore, by shooting a picture of the sky in between each catch it will help you distinguish catches when you get back home.

4) Finally Submitting your Photo to Kayak Wars

The last part is the best part of Kayak Wars. Submitting your catch into the system so you earn points for your team and can brag about your catches, add to your overall statistics and join in the fun. You need to first login to Kayak Wars. Next, you should see a link in your profile that says "Log Catches". See example below, click to expand. Then, start uploading your catches and entering the information. If you took good photos against a measuring board you can easily determine the length of each catch during upload by reviewing you uploaded photo. For example, how long is the grouper in the example photo above? You get my drift.
